*Results may vary. The information in this site is NOT to be construed as medical advice. Cirrhosis of the liver is a serious condition and if you have it, you should see a doctor. I am not a doctor and am not able to dispense medical advice. My husband saw a doctor (many of them) and they were able to do things for him that I could not. However, they were unable to recommend alternative treatments, and in MY OPINION they were VERY beneficial to my husband, so I am providing some of that information here. My husband and I tried all of these alternative therapies at our own risk, and if you try them you will be doing the same. At your own risk. No promises are made in this blog. I am not saying there is a cure for cirrhosis or any other condition. However, I believe most people can get well, like my husband did. My husband is alive, happy, productive, functional and has his energy back. He no longer worries about having to go on disability or getting a $577,000 liver transplant. Cirrhosis is a serious condition. He is currently in the fibrosis stage (Stage 2 liver disease), which is still serious. I cannot guarantee you will have the same results. I just want you to know about what worked well for my husband. I hope you will share what you learned with others, and share your story with us as well. This blog was made for YOU! Thanks for visiting!

Jake is doing GREAT!!! His MELD Score is down to a 9 (from 17 in December).

(PLEASE NOTE that after I wrote this post, below, I discovered Jake's highest MELD score was actually at 28, not 17... you can read more about it HERE, but the gist of why I thought his highest score was 17, was because I just took this one picture - below - of his records, and you couldn't see the date he was admitted on, which was 12/23... and it was on that date, that his score was a 28).

UPDATE 2/14/15:  PLEASE SEE MY POST ABOUT THE DETOX WATER THAT JAKE IS USING... Since he started drinking it, it made him feel so healthy HE IS NO LONGER ON A SINGLE PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION. I haaaaaate to admit this, but... Jake told me that the "triple threat" therapy for his acid reflux didn't totally take his acid reflux away (it helped, but he still had it). HOWEVER... THIS DRINK TOTALLY DID. NO MORE ACID REFLUX!!!!!! And the stuff is waaaaaay cheaper than the other stuff I had him on. This drink will "DETOX YOU" like nothing else. You can read more about it by CLICKING HERE.

UPDATE 2017: IMPORTANT!!! While we are thrilled that my husband is able to work again, you MUST be aware that cirrhosis can cause PERMANENT DAMAGE, and it is NOT something you should take lightly in any way!!!!! I do believe that cirrhosis probably shortened my husband's life by about 25 percent. You can see what I'm talking about if you read THIS POSTCirrhosis is an extremely serious condition and as of this date I've seen it claim the lives of 23 people. It kills about 25,000 people per year. So DON'T SLACK OFF when you're trying to heal from this, unless you don't mind your life getting cut short.

-----------------------------------------This is my post from 4/20/14:

Just wanted to give an update and share a few things....

Here is a text I got from Jake on Thursday after he saw his primary care physician - who could not believe Jake is doing as well as he is. This is the doctor that told me he virtually never sees patients recover from Cirrhosis!!!  Jake texted me after his last Dr's appointment, with his primary care physician (who is also a gastroenterologist, who has treated many patients with cirrhosis). This is what he sent:

Normally his doctor needed to see him every month, but now that he is doing better, Jake is able to see him every two months. Woohoo!

I have been very busy with a new job so I haven't had time to write any new posts recently, but I wanted to share with you a picture of Jake's MELD scores, that he got from his nurse practitioner (who works with his Liver specialist), in March. I wanted to post this sooner but like I said, I've been really busy with work.

The nurse practitioner was not very happy about me taking a picture of the screen, but... I just played stupid because I really wanted this picture. "Oh, I can't take a picture? I didn't know I wasn't supposed to do that... I'm sorry...." : D

Although he has a ways to go, Jake is doing very well overall, and I just want to post this for everyone out there who has cirrhosis, to let you know that there is hope!!! You just need to do the work, take the supplements, drink green juice, and stay away from alcohol!!! And exercise if you can (walking is best).

I would also like to congratulate my husband, who hasn't had a drink for over six months, and has been working very hard on getting his health back. And I want to thank him for letting me tell this story, so maybe we can help and inspire some other people who are going through the same thing.

I am planning to do another post soon, detailing exactly what he has been doing to make his recovery. But the basics are, his regimen includes taking a daily probiotic, Sam-e, Milk Thistle, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Selenium, Vitamin D and a few others I will write about soon. He also drinks aloe vera juice and green spinach juice at least 3 days a week (whenever I have time to make it for him). His doctor was able to cut most of his prescriptions in half, about 6 weeks ago, so he has been able to gain weight and is up to about 145 pounds now. I can see the difference in his face, his cheeks are starting to fill back out. Woohoo!

Check back later for more specific details of Jake's regimen for the last 4 months since his hospitalization.

Please note: I am not a doctor and I am only able to tell you what I have learned by doing my own research on the internet, and share with you the things that have worked for my husband. Please remember that Liver Cirrhosis is a very serious disease so I am not saying, do not see a doctor. Doctors have helped my
husband a lot. But I believe it is wise to do as much research as you can, and find out why
they are giving you every one of the medications and treatments they are giving you.
I believe they do not always know about or understand every treatment option that is available,
and there are many good options out there that can help.
Your health is ultimately your own responsibility, above anyone else's.

Best of luck to you!!!
